The Pool is now CLOSED. Thanks to all who visited, the Staff and all the volunteers who helped with tasks too numerous to mention here.
Now for some sad news. It is unlikely that Helmsley Open Air Pool will open in 2010. Those that have visited the pool will be aware of the poor state of the fabric of the pool, the changing rooms, the equipment and plant. In 2010 the whole of the Sports Site on Baxtons Lane in Helmsley will benefit from a multi-million pound regeneration project part of which will feature the Pool. The work will be carried out over a 38-40 week period but as this is being written there is no start date. It is likely that work will commence in Spring 2010 which will leave insufficient time to carry out the Pool work AND re-open it for the 2010 season.Please keep visiting this site it will be updated as and when there is any further detail. It is hoped to have enough money to cover the Pool with a retractable cover so the Open Air facility can continue but on more inclement days the pool will not have to close merely roll out the roof and wall section cover!
Below are some details about the Pool and the 2009 opening times etc. Subject to grants and other financial issues the pool will re-open this using the information below.

Helmsley Heated Open Air Swimming Pool is operated under by Registered Charity
(Helmsley Recreation Ground Reg. No.523358) the Trustees for which are Helmsley Town Council.
It receives financial support from Ryedale District Council through a Service Level Agreement.
The Swimming Pool Committee is grateful to both the organisations for their support without which the facility would not open.
